Mellow Mountain Hostel

We are a comfortable backpackers hostel in South Lake Tahoe with European style accommodations made up of shared rooms. Our hostel is about community and creating a social experience. Our guests include travelers from around the globe. Our median age of guests is between 20-30 years of age, but we welcome all ages.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for violence and illegal drug use. Smoking is outdoors only. We do not allow visitors after 10:00 PM, but we do offer a day pass for shower use, kitchen access, and use of the laundry facility from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

 

Terms of Service
 
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AGREEMENT CAREFULLY, AS IT CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR RESERVATION.
The following terms and conditions of Mellow Mountain Hostel (hereinafter referred to as “we”, “our” or “us”) apply to your reservations. By making your reservations over the phone, in person, or using our online reservation system, you understand, acknowledge and agree to our terms and conditions. We reserve the right to cancel a reservation without notice if we become aware of or are notified of any fraud or illegal activity associated with this reservation.
 
THIS IS A TRAVELERS HOSTEL

We do not accommodate local residents. California State or Nevada State ID’s must have an address further than a 25-mile radius away from zip code 96150 or additionally present a document showing an event in South Lake Tahoe that you plan to attend.

ONLINE RESERVATIONS ARE PREFERRED

Advance reservations are highly recommended, especially for private rooms, weekend stays and during our high season (June through September; December through April).
 
We welcome walk-in guests whenever possible.

GROUP RESERVATIONS

For groups of 8 or more call +1 (530) 600-3272 for rates and availability.

For group bookings, we process a 20% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking. 30 days prior to your arrival, we will process any remaining balance with the credit or debit card provided. To cancel your booking, you must call during business hours (we do not accept email cancellations) and speak with a manager to process the cancellation. We must receive notice at least 14 days prior to your arrival to refund the balance less the 20% non-refundable deposit.”

CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY

If you need to cancel or make changes to your reservation, call +1 (530) 600-3272 or email [email protected].

The deadline to cancel or change your reservation is 4:00 p.m. PST, two days before your arrival date. If you do not cancel by the deadline, or if you do not arrive on the reserved date, we will charge your credit card for one night’s accommodation per person, and any additional nights reserved will be canceled.

In the event of a no-call/no-show, we will process payment for the first night of the intended stay per our 48 hour cancellation policy and reserve the right to remove any/all remaining nights from the booking.

Please be aware that inclement weather and smoke don’t nullify our cancellation policy. Canceling at least 48 hours before 4pm on the first day of when your reservation starts is required for you to be exempt from payment unless there is an official notice or restriction such as a mandatory evacuation or all roads leading into South Lake Tahoe are closed. If you are nervous about winter conditions or smoke, know that the winter forecast and fire warnings should give you a good idea of the situation well before 48 hours and still within the cancellation period, so keep yourself aware of issues related to your travel plans.

PAYMENT
Any major credit card is required for reservations. At check-in, you can choose to pay with cash.

MAXIMUM STAY
No guest may stay more than 21 consecutive nights.

PET POLICY
Sorry, but we do not allow pets at the hostel.

PARKING
We try our very best to accommodate everyone with available parking but because there are nights we become full, we use a first come first serve policy. We can give you recommendations to the best of our ability if the parking is full when you arrive. Please consider carpooling, or using public transport to get here. We have many of the main attractions within walking distance to us 🙂

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT

  • You must be over 18 years of age to check-in.
  • A valid government-issued ID is required at the time of check-in (passport, driver’s license, state or military ID card).
  • A credit or debit card is required at check-in. (VISA, MasterCard, American Express & Discover). At check-in, you can choose to pay with cash.
  • Your accommodations are normally available after 4:00 PM on your scheduled arrival date.
  • Check-out time is by 12:00 PM of your scheduled departure date.
  • We are open year-round, and our office hours are 9:00 PM to 9:00 PM daily.
  • Our emergency after hours phone number is posted on the lobby door.


GUEST ROOM DAMAGE

Guest assumes all responsibility for any damages to the guest room or its contents.

SMOKE-FREE GUEST ROOM POLICY
Although smoking is not permitted within our guest rooms, guests who smoke are permitted to do so outside in designated areas. There is a significant room recovery fee for guests who do not comply in order to cover the extensive cost of restoring our guest rooms to a smoke-free condition. Minimum guest room recovery fees start at $675.

SPECIAL REQUESTS
Our system places you in the first available bed. We are unable to guarantee multiple bed reservations in the same room. If you are traveling with other guests and want to be in the same room call or email us to make arrangements.

We do not assign bunks so if you have an injury or special need please email or call us to make arrangements.

THIRD PARTY RESERVATIONS/CREDIT CARD USER
If you are making reservations on behalf of another person (“credit card holder”), you make the following representations and warranties and further agree to comply with the terms and conditions stated below: (1) You have obtained legal authorization from the credit card holder to make reservations on behalf of the credit card holder and agree to our terms and conditions on the credit card holder’s behalf and thereby bind credit card holder to our terms and conditions; (2) The Guest Information you have provided above, e.g., name, phone number, address, and email is that of the credit card holder; (3) You have advised the credit card holder that we do not impose any third party booking charges and we will accept reservations directly from the credit card holder; and (4) You will inform the credit card holder of all our Terms and Conditions, and provide the credit card holder with reservation confirmation(s) and any other information or correspondence pertaining to the credit card holder’s reservations.

Mellow Mountain Hostel is located in the area known as Lakeside in South Lake Tahoe. The hostel is a short walk to the beach, casinos, dozens of restaurants, Heavenly Village, and the Heavenly Mountain Gondola.
